Gang,

As you know, here on SS, we've had some vivid discussions and livid disagreements about pandemic related issues.

I have defied the opinion of most people here, after the initial months of the pandemic. I opposed the mandates and shut downs...

...and defended people who stood for the individual liberties that the Bill of Rights guarantees to every US citizen. I was adamant in decrying Big Brother's tyranny, especially coming from the Biden White House and blue state governors.

Yet, in my personal life, I was as compliant as any of you here who trusted in Big Brother with all your heart.

I wore a mask more faithfully than anyone I know. I quarantined. I pushed old ladies out of my way to get to the front on the Vax line. Everything Dr. Fauci said we should do, I did faithfully.

So, I was fully vaxed. And got the first booster as soon as it was available.

Long story short. I inherited, from my mom, a medical condition that effects the eyes. It's already appeared in one eye. My optometrist suggested a few years ago that I have her start tracking it. (Mom's condition only became serious in her mid 80s, but I figured that it's a good thing to be diligent.)

A few days ago, I had a regular check up. The doctor said that the condition she's tracking isn't advancing.

Then, she asked me a few unrelated questions and followed them up by saying that there's a hemorrhage in my right eye. I can only imagine that it's serious because she asked for the name of my physician and promised to send her findings off to him immediately.

So, we're early in the diagnosis process. One thing I know is that nothing like this is in my family medical history.

One possibility is that this eye hemorrhage is a side effect of the COVID-19 vaccinations.

Evie asked me if I lose vision in that eye, or eventually, go blind and that the vaxes are the cause, how will I feel.

Y'know? I won't enjoy what's happened to me. (BTW, I am already experiencing some vision issues.)

But, I made my choices freely and was as well informed as I could have been.

So, if it happens, it sucks. But, no regrets.

I'm very sorry to hear about that. I hope that you can recover from it or or the very least manage it successfully. The Golden Years are somewhat overrated.

I would be hesitant to blame your vaccination. Do you what really has adverse side effects? Covid.

I hope you find relief, Hts, and I hope it doesn't progress. But like Curt, I wouldn't jump to conclusions and blame it on the COVID vax. You're getting old. Shit happens to these old bodies.

    Curt/Donna,

To the best of my knowledge, there are two likelihoods. One is that it's a complication of fairly advanced diabetes, or covid vax complications.

My last A1C, about a year ago, was high-ish. I was, I suppose, "pre-diabetic." Of course, the condition could have come on quickly and advanced rapidly.

I meet with my doctor in 10 days. We'll see.

When you say eye hemorrhage are we talking about when a person has part or all of the white of their eyeball turn red?

I don't have any personal familiarity with it but it seems I've seen people have part of their eye turn bloody red and then later it goes away and goes back to the normal white.

I'd be surprised if your eye doctor can diagnose the cause. You mentioned two possibilities diabetes and a covid vaccination. I think you should add to that suspect list high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, allergies, conjunctivitis, medications and age generally.

Hts: What was your A1C level? I was diagnosis with type 2 diabetes a little over 3 months ago. My A1C was 6.7, which is the low end of the T2 diabetes range. I had been pre-diabetic for years.

Since then I've cut way back on carbs. I had a second A1C test a little over a week ago. My A1C was measured at 6.2, which put me back in the pre-diabetic range. My primary care nurse said that if I can get my A1C down to 5.6, I'll be in the normal range. I'll be shooting for that.

    Donna,

I don't specifically remember what my A1C was, exactly. I didn't think it was a big deal. There was almost no Type 2 diabetes in my family. Since then, my younger brother was diagnosed with it.

I'm thinking it was low 7s. My doctor told me to watch my diet and to try to get it into the low 6s.

My annual check up is in a week. I'm sure he'll order new blood work...especially after the eye hemorrhage developed.

    Curt,

No. The hemorrhage is deep inside the eye. The doctor only noticed it after she put drops in my eye to look for the advance of the other condition.

Actually, I used to be an optician. I know a little bit about the eye. I'm pretty sure that most of the possible causes you mention are non factors. Blood pressure? That a possibility. Up to my last check up, my blood pressure has always been normal. But, we'll see.

Like so much with covid, this is so new. If it is vax related, I'd be among the first to experience it.

But, as you know, Trump developed these vaxes. They have to be evil. Right? Bahahahahahahahahahaha.
